Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient therapy that has been successfully treating people for thousands of years. It takes into account the unique conditions that allowed for pain and dysfunction to arise in your body and addresses it by nurturing new neural pathways that promote healing.
Other modalities may be incorporated into your treatment such as moxa, gua sha, cupping, and estim, depending on your unique needs.

Herbal Medicine

Enhance your body's innate ability to heal with natural herbal medicine. Customized to your specific needs, these herbal prescriptions are filled with adaptogens, anti-virals, anti-bacterials, anti-inflammatories, and much more to return your body to its highest function.

San Diego Trigger Point

Trigger Point Therapy

Do you have a new or old injury that limits range of motion and creates referral pain to another part of your body? Trigger point therapy pinpoints the source of pain in the muscle of the belly to override chronic contraction in order to relieve tension.

This type of treatment has been used in Traditional East Asian Medicine for thousands of years and has recently gone through a westernized rebranding. If you are interested in trying Trigger Point Therapy, go to an acupuncturist that has had hundreds of hours of professional training to get the best results!

Nutritional Counseling

The food you eat can either be medicine or poison. It can also be an emotional crutch that makes engrained eating patterns difficult to change. Our approach is to teach simple and useful nutritional advice that can be practically integrated into every day life for optimal health.

FAQ

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people don't feel anything at all, though it is common to feel some sensation. Some sensations people report feeling are tingling, buzzing, or heaviness. It is very common for people to fall asleep during treatments since acupuncture helps to relieve pain and cause overall relaxation.

How long does a treatment last?

Your first appointment will last the longest so your acupuncturist can get a full medical background and properly assess your case. Once the physical treatment begins, points are not stimulated for longer than thirty minutes. This insures that the body receives the proper instructions without being overstimulated and, ultimately, drained.

How do I know if I should get
acupuncture?

If you have any health issues that is effecting your life negatively and are ready to commit to yourself to treat it. Acupuncture may be for you if you want a safe, natural, and effective way to heal.

Why do I need a consultation?

In order for you to get the personalized health plan that you need, our acupuncturist will first need a full understanding of what's going on. During your consultation, she will do a thorough investigation of your chief complaint, medical history, and a review of systems, in order to completely understand your individual case and to see if you're a good fit for one of our programs. Then she will make her best recommendation to you for treatment so that we can help you with your health goals.

What should I do on the day I get acupuncture?

It is important to eat before receiving acupuncture. A full meal isn't necessary if time doesn't permit, but at least eat a snack before coming in. After treatments, make sure to say well hydrated and eat warm, cooked food. Other than that, go about your day as normal!

Our Story

San Diego Acupuncturist

SoCal Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine is located in San Diego, CA and is led by Dr. Erica Sloan, DAIM.

As a young woman, Erica suffered from both physical and emotional pain that often left her debilitated. She sought care from medical doctors but her symptoms were simply covered up and left her feeling tired and unmotivated. After years of masking symptoms, she decided to try an alternative approach in order to find relief.

Through the use of acupuncture and herbal medicine, Erica finally got a handle on her pain and her happiness. She also noticed that her entire system was functioning better and had more energy overall.

After noticing what a difference acupuncture has made in her life, Erica decided to go to school to learn more about this medicine. She has since worked with countless doctors as well as studied in China to see the diverse benefits of this medicine.

SoCal Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine is a forward-thinking clinic dedicated to healing chronic conditions and promoting healthy lifestyles. Our treatments don’t just focus on your symptoms - they concentrate on the root of the problem to help you live your best life.
